In 2006 I was travelling around Asia. On a hot, dry summer afternoon, I ended up in a place named Bagan. It was only later that I got to know Bagan's story, that more than 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the plains alone during the Bagan kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries, but only 2200 temples and pagodas survived and the people there were doing everything they could to protect and fix those religious antiques. I remember that time someone was sitting in front of a sunflower, watching the sunflower, a cup of sun when I was wandering around on the plain. I was captured by the mysterious, quiet and exotic air and I went to him. We couldn't communicate much as he didn't speak English, but he invited me to sit and do the same thing. So I tried it too and it was overwhelming like a quiet storm under the blue sky. I felt the power and life in the sunflower. That was my experience: The sunflower meditation. I could see the whole universe in a flower.
